Lakes of Arvieux
Lac de Roue (1854 m)
The larch-fringed Lac de Roue lies on the border between Arvieux and Château-Ville-Vieille, on the Gr 5.
The ancients called it"Lac de la Motte Tremblante", as a kind of plant island had formed in its center. This floating island, moored to the bottom by long roots, moved from one shore to the other at the whim of the wind.

Lac du Laus (1955 m)

Lac du Laus is a small, forgotten lake between Chalp d'Arvieux and Lac de Roue, beneath Camp Catinat. You won't find it by chance unless you're a mushroom hunter.
Note that "Laus" is patois for "lake". Lac du Laus is therefore, strictly speaking, a pleonasm.
Lac de la Valette (2199 m)
At the foot of Col Garnier, not far from the Furfande chalets, Lac de la Valette offers its cottongrass (see photo) in a spongy meadow.

Lac du Lauzon (2283 m)

Lac du Lauzon is reached by climbing up the Combe Bonne valley from Le Coin d'Arvieux.
It can also be found on the Brunissard, Clapeyto, Col Néal and Coin circuits.
Magnificent in spring, Lac du Lauzon can be dry in late summer.
lauzon" meaning "lake" as in "laus", "lac du Lauzon" is a cartographer's pleonasm.
Néal lakes (2500 m)
After the chalets de Clapeyto, coming from Brunissard (Arvieux), you reach the Col Néal (2500 m) with its numerous lakes in the "sagnes" (marshes or peat bogs): Lac du Cogour (2488 m), Lac Marion, Lac de la Favière and other unnamed lakes.
Lac Néal itself is located in the valley below Roche de Rame.
