Visits in the Hautes Alpes
On a vacation in the Hautes Alpes, we recommend a visit to Briançon, the town that for so long guarded the Alpine border, and whose fortifications, built by Vauban, are a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Montdauphin, also built by Vauban at a time when the border with the Duchy of Savoy was located at the Col de Vars, is well worth a visit. The same goes for the magnificent 12th-century Boscodon abbey and the Serre-Ponçon lake, the largest lake in the Hautes Alpes and southern Alps.
